Cocktails at La Brasserie in London

August 2, 2011 By All That I'm Eating 8 Comments

This was a gifted experience.
A good cocktail is a marvellous thing, a bad cocktail is an evening ruiner. I have had some atrocious cocktails and some incredible ones. I used to spend a lot of time in Leicester where there were loads of places to get good cocktails but unfortunately I don’t frequent Leicester as much as I used to and decent cocktails are now hard to come by.
Cocktails at La Brasserie

I visited a friend in London over the weekend and we took ourselves out for some cocktails. I had been invited (by a PR company) to go to Pierres Bar in La Brasserie in Kensington. It’s in a lovely location and it’s just the right size to have atmosphere without being cramped. The staff were all lovely and seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were catered for in every way.
I didn’t take many pictures as I was too busy tucking in to the cocktails! I’m not a cocktail expert but when they’re using a fresh watermelon to make your martini instead of an ominous looking watermelon flavouring it’s going to be good.

La Brasserie

I have had nice cocktails before but they always seem to be in teeny tiny glasses so you get a few good sips and then have to get another one. Fortunately the glasses at La Brasserie were very generous. I sneaked a peak at the restaurant menu (it would have been rude not to) and if we hadn’t made reservations elsewhere it would have been great to try it out. The only problem would have been trying to choose what to order.
I wish I could pull off owning a drinks cabinet but I fear it might come across slightly Hyacinth Bucket rather than James Bond. Besides if I made my own cocktails I couldn’t go out for them which would be a shame.

I’d love a drinks cabinet but we don’t really have room for one. Mine would be totally Mad Men if I did 😉

Fresh watermelon cocktails sound lovely 🙂

I went to Pierre’s recently and had some really gorgeous cocktails. I asked the barman for a peach bellini – he completely misheard me and made a white lady (?!) but since it was going spare, gave it to us as a freebie! I’d never have ordered this random mixture of gin, egg white, lemon juice and more but it was really good 🙂
