The best bit was definitely the ‘egglets’. Partly because it’s such a cute name and mostly because they were divine. There were three of each flavour; salted caramel (with the yellow spot) and praline (with the purple and white). They were wrapped in coloured foil so when you peel it open you’re not expecting the little pop of colour on top of the eggs; I thought it was a really nice touch. The salted caramel had a fantastic thick texture and just enough salt to be discernible but not overpowering and the praline was creamy and melting.
Overall I liked the egg and especially the egglets. Personally I prefer to have bits in the chocolate egg itself so that it’s interesting to eat. I was having a look on the Hotel Chocolat website and they happen to make an egg which has puffed rice and cookies in the egg which sounds so good! If I’m walking past a shop and I see they’ve got some of those little egglets I will definitely be treating myself to some.
Thanks to Hotel Chocolat for the sample. All opinions expressed are my own.
